(1569). MONTE ROCHER (Guy de). MANIPULUS CURATORUM, SOMMAMEN - Lot 340
(1569). MONTE ROCHER (Guy de). MANIPULUS CURATORUM, SOMMAMENTE NECESSARIO AD OGNI SACERDOTE. Venice, Haer. Melchior I Sessa, 1569. Small in-12 of [8]256 leaves, stiff vellum (period binding). Guy de Montrocher was a French priest and jurist active around 1331, best known for his often-copied Manipulus Curatorum (Curate's Manual) for parish priests, which only became obsolete when the Council of Trent created the Roman catechism in 1566. This attractive edition is adorned with 8 woodcuts showing the priest in action. Small stains on 2 leaves, a good copy. (USTC, 855538, 2ex.).
