Rare chased velvet with Eucharistic attributes, first quarte - Lot 343
Rare chased velvet with Eucharistic attributes, first quarter of the 17th century, velvet looped and cut on a satin ground, bottle-green and taupe decor of branches with flowering pomegranate, pampers and ears of wheat. On a dismantled chasuble front, (old restorations), 52 x 39 cm.
From the second half of the 18th century onwards, pampers and ears of wheat motifs were mostly found on silks intended for chasuble, notably in Tours and Lyon; they became frequent in the 19th century.
