Avignon, a city in the south of France, is one of the few cities in France that still has its ramparts and historic centre. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the "City of the Popes" is known for its important cultural heritage, its famous bridge that inspired song, but also for its festival, which has established itself as the most important theatre and spectalce event in the world (in terms of spectators gathered and creations).
