Dish, Mentawai Islands. Large, oblong vessel, close to the shape of the Mentawai ships (see Feldman). The simplicity of the shapes lends the dish a very contemporary elegance, bringing this piece close to the best examples of design. The fine wood grain is reminiscent of the object's primitive character. Missing and cracked. Mentawai, Mentawai Islands (Indonesia). On base.
