Japan, 19th century Rounded rectangular ivory netsuke-box (hako netsuke), carved in shishiaibori with a bugaku dancer performing the butterfly dance (kochô no mai), a tsuzumi drum tied at the waist and holding his chopsticks in his two outstretched arms, wearing checkered pants and wings on the back, on the reverse an incised flute (shakuhachi) and mouth organ (shô), and the signature Minkoku 民合. Dimensions : 3,6 x 3 cm ; Weight 12,98 gr Provenance : Collection of Mme R. We enclose its CITES certificate.
