China - Lot 19
China Set of three bronze objects: a belt or harness element (possibly Ordos, 5th-2nd c. B.C.), a coin-shaped amulet (sapèque) with a horse surmounted by the character lü 祿 (prosperity) on one side and inscribed "合家清吉 hejiaqingji" on the other (Song/Yuan dynasty), and a religious pendant. L. 4 cm ; diam. 2.5 cm ; 3.2 cm Provenance: Collection acquired (by the current owner's husband) from Marianne Densmore in the early 1960s in Paris, and at the sale of her collection after her death, on November 6, 7 and 8, 1968 at Drouot; some items therefore probably came from the collection of Charles Vignier (1863-1934), Marianne Densmore's brother, whose gallery she took over in 1934 (on his death).
