Set of 4 wooden escabelles, seats covered with leather embossed with fleurs-de-lis for two, ships for another and foliage for the last. Three of them have ringed legs and elaborate backrests decorated with grotesque faces, the socket in the backrest depicting a mouth. One back decorated with foliage and shells. One back bears the date "1764" and the monograms "LH" and "EG". Switzerland, 19th century, Total height: 90 cm Condition: legs changed, restorations, traces of glue, worm damage, woodworm holes.
