Japan, late 19th century Muso-zutsu-type Kiseruzutsu (pipe case), in red lacquered wood (speckled with black) and inlaid carved soapstone decoration, depicting the lady Tokiwa Gozen in flight with her children below, a shishi head under a Greek ring at the opening, a kirin and a phoenix in a landscape on the stopper.
