Portrait of Kakinomoto no Hitomaro, known as Hito-maru, ink and colors on paper (speckled with gold) depicting the famous poet (late Asuka period, late 7th/early 8th century) seated in court dress, surmounted by a waka poem in cursive calligraphy, mounted on silk, bone jiku-saki, attributed to Hino Sukenori (1756-1830), according to the inscription "Hino Dainagon (Great Counselor Hino)" on the outside of the scroll and on the box (shikibako).
