The B306 chair was created by Charlotte PERRIAND at the instigation of Charles Édouard JEANNERET to furnish the Church and La Roche villas in 1928. The model was designed for complete repose, based on the shapes of Dr. Pascaud's Surrepos chairs (1925) and Thonet's 1880 rocking chair.
Patented under the name of the three architects in 1929, Charlotte PERRIAND specified that no mechanism was needed to tilt the chair.
First published in 1930 by Thonet, distribution and publishing were taken over by Cassina in 1965.
