Lyon, at the office of the Linnean Society, 1876-77. 4 volumes in-4°, half mahogany chagrin, spine ribbed (binding of the time) THE MOST BEAUTIFUL BOOK OF ORNITHOLOGY PUBLISHED IN LYON. It is illustrated with 117 plates, 112 of which are hand-colored and fixed with gum, lithographed by L. Bevalet and Ed. Mesplis; the beauty of these birds and the delicacy make each of these plates a real print. Etienne Mulsant was a professor of natural history at the Lycée de Lyon, curator of the city's library, president of the Société Linéenne and correspondent of the institute. Very rare foxing, small institutional stamp on titles.
