First edition of the French translation by Abraham Wicquefort. Thomas Herbert accompanied Dormer Cotton, sent by Charles I on an embassy to the Persian king Schah-Abbas. He describes Cape Town, Madagascar, Goa, Surat as well as the Persian Gulf, then Shiraz and Isfahan. The first page is in 2 states. Dry binding.
