Translated from the Flemish by Jérémie Van Vliet. Paris, J. Du Puis, 1663. In-4° of [6]-632-[24] pages, brown calf, spine decorated (contemporary binding). First edition of the French translation by Abraham Wicquefort. Thomas Herbert accompanied Dormer Cotton, sent by Charles I on an embassy to the Persian king Schah-Abbas. He describes Cape Town, Madagascar, Goa, Surat as well as the Persian Gulf, then Shiraz and Isfahan. The first page is in 2 states. Dry binding.
