SAINT-RAYMOND DE PEÑAFORT
SAINT-RAYMOND DE PEÑAFORT. Manuscript from the second half of the 13th century, ruled, on two columns, in Romanesque minuscule. 120 parchment leaves, in 12 quires. Initials in red and blue, some more worked. Stains and wetness (more pronounced on the first few leaves), some leaves a little curled. Leather-covered wood edges (wormholes, cracks, skin torn off in places), with traces of clasps. The spine has been very modestly rebound. Ex-libris L. Froissart. Period copy of the Summa de casuistica (correct title Summa de penitentia et matrimonio) by Raymond de Peñafort, a Dominican friar who lived for nearly a century, from 1175 to 1275, and was canonized in 1601. It is consistent with manuscripts 3249 and 3250 held at the BNF.
