JEAN-BAPTISTE ROUSSEAU
Jean-Baptiste ROUSSEAU. L.A.S. to M. de Séguy. Brussels, 13 March 1738. 3 pp. in-4. Address on the back. Browned paper. Letter of exile written at the very end of his life, when he decided to return to France incognito (he resided in Paris for a few months under the name of Richer but had to return to Brussels where he died). "You will find in Paris what you left in Brussels in our great Princess to whom you have more than one opportunity to express the feelings she inspires in M. le comte du Luc. Mr. Hardion wrote to me that he would ask your brother about your last visit. He is to look for you in Paris, where I believe he is at present. I would be delighted if he could have my last letter printed while you are in Paris. I have put you on my list for two copies []. Provenance: collection of Dr. Jean H.
