HENRI IV (1553-1610), king of France. Autograph letter signed to Queen Marie de Medici. Saint-Germain-en-Laye], "ce vandredy au soyr" [late September 1608]. 1 p. folio. Two closes on the back for address with two small red wax seals (crowned monogram with the initials H and M interlaced) with purple silk lakes. Superb intimate letter to the queen. "My heart, I had a very bad stomach ache all today, because I ate only nine at supper, but I have cut down on my partemant of fruit and salad since then. I am very tired and very drunk. I did not stop walking everywhere on my petyte mule, if I do not survive I will go to conflans, it was so nice that I would like your sister [Eleanor of Medici, Duchess of Mantua, then visiting Paris] to be jumped with you, that I would drink a mylyon of times. The king signs the monogram interlaced with their initials H and M surrounded by 4 closes.
