Philippe Emmanuel, marquis de COULANGES (1633-1716)
Philippe Emmanuel, marquis de COULANGES (1633-1716), man of letters and chansonnier, cousin and friend of Madame de Sévigné, who often speaks about him in her letters]. Manuscript from the second half of the 17th century (after 1689). 227 pp. in-4, black half-chagrin with corners, spine decorated with nerves, red morocco title-piece, gilt edges on marbling (19th c. binding). Very slight rubbing to the headpieces. Marginal stains on the last pages. Ex-libris L. Froissart. Coulanges spent most of his life putting into song, for the happiness of his friends, the events, great or small, that touched him; his songs were a great success. Published in 1694 (152 titles) and 1698 (335 titles), they were already circulating among his entourage in the form of handwritten collections].
