Campaigns of Napoleon I, Emperor of the French and King of Italy. Historical tables of the Italian campaigns from the year IV to the battle of Marengo, followed by a detailed account of the operations of the army of the East, details of the coronation ceremonies, official bulletins of the great army and the army of Italy throughout the last war in Germany, up to the peace of Presbourg. The views were mostly taken on the spot, and the prints are engraved after the original drawings by Carle Vernet. Paris, Auber éditeur, rue Saint-Lazare, 1806. Large folio, faux-title, XVI, 122, 59 p. for the Précis historique de la campagne d'Allemagne, contemporary blue paper boards, smooth spine, red morocco title-piece. The binding is in poor condition, defects on the boards, lacks on the spine, corners dull. Interior in good condition, slight foxing, light marginal spotting towards the end. The illustration includes: a frontispiece after Carle Vernet (Napoleon on horseback), a banner at the beginning of the introduction (La France reconnaissante proclame Napoléon), a mid-page engraving at the beginning of the Egyptian expedition (Combat d'Aboukir), medallion portraits of the Emperor and Empress at the beginning of the Coronation, after Carle Vernet, 24 pl. of battles including the famous battle of Arcole. Missing map. The battle of Marengo and the battle of Austerlitz are presented here in a print before the letter. It is in this volume that we find the plate of the Deliverance of Corsica on 29 Vendemiaire year V. Monumental work sought after for its iconography.
