TOPOGRAPHICAL MAP OF FRANCE raised and published by order of the King, engraved at a scale of 1:80,000. This map, subject to the most precise trigono-metric and astronomical observations, and accompanied by tables of geographical positions and absolute heights of the main places, was started by the Corps of Military Geographic Engineers and continued by the Corps of General Staff: being Director General of the War Depot, the Lieutenant-General, Baron Pelet, peer of France, head of the map section of France, the powerful Colonels, member of the Institute, and Coraboeuf; head of the interior topographic section, Colonel Lapie. Paris, 1833-1845. 7 emboitages in-4°, in half red morocco 97 maps (out of 113 shown on the backs of the emboitages and 112 in the table), a title, a map of triangles and an assembly table. The set is mounted on canvas with the maps in 8 segments (86 x 58 cms), folded and bearing a numbered vellum label; they are assembled in 7 numbered in-4° insets, in red half morocco, bearing in gold letters the number and title of the 113 maps.
